‘Walk in the Spirit’- a new Lenten Renewal Experience
WALK IN THE SPIRIT
Thursdays, 7.30pm to 9.00pm, 18th of February to 25th March 2021
In the past the Holy Spirit was often described as the forgotten member of the Blessed Trinity. Not anymore!
Over the last generations Catholics have been experiencing the Holy Spirit in the most remarkable of ways throughout the world. It is often given the expression “The Baptism of the Holy Spirit.” In only recent times Pope Francis has asked that this “Baptism of the Holy Spirit” be shared with the entire Catholic world.
So, therefore, we are proposing that the Lenten Program for the Archdiocese for 2021 become not so much a “program” but a fresh experience of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
This program/experience will be called “Walk in the Spirt.” I will have the honour of hosting each one of these sessions with leaders from the Disciples of Jesus Covenant Community in this Archdiocese and other Pastoral leaders from our Archdiocesan offices.
“I would like to invite everybody to join in this unique Lenten Renewal experience. Meeting over six times, livestreamed on Thursday evenings, we will open our hearts like never before to the release of the Holy Spirit deep within our lives. As people of faith we are all beginners. No one can say that they have advanced so much in their Spiritual life that they cannot open their lives afresh to the Holy Spirit.“|
– Archbishop Christopher Prowse, Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn
We will gather on Thursdays evenings in Lent from the 18th of February – 25th of March 2021. Beginning at 7.30pm – 9.00pm.
The novelty of this experience is that it will be offered in a new way via live-streaming to the entire Archdiocese. I encourage people from throughout the Archdiocese to gather in Lenten groups in their different Parish, School or Community groups. So the experience will be a personal experience but it will also be linked using the modern communications that we are becoming more familiar with in these COVID-19 times.
Further details of a practical nature are available below.
More importantly though, I would sincerely like to invite everybody to join in this quite unique Lenten experience. Meeting over six times on Thursday evenings we will open our hearts like never before to the release of the Holy Spirit deep within our lives. As people of faith we are all beginners. No one can say that they have advanced so much in their Spiritual life that they cannot open their lives afresh to the Holy Spirit. Nor can anybody say that they are so behind the mark on prayer that participation in such sessions would be of no value.
Could I respectfully request you consider seriously your possible participation in this unique experience.
Throughout my adult life, opening myself up to the Holy Spirit has been at the very centre of my experience with Jesus. Please join me as we renew this experience of Jesus afresh in Lent 2021.
