Opposites
We can accept that the four gospel writers have their own style, purpose, intent?
We can accept that they use literary techniques to prosper their style, purpose, intent?
Well yes, the Catechism does say that God speaks to us in human language (CCC 109).
John uses contrasting opposites to get his point across:
Above and below
Heaven and earth
Acceptance and rejection
Belief and unbelief.
With this in mind, we get the sense of John 3.
Now, then, are we from “above,” of “heaven,” “accepting” of Jesus and “believers” in the Lord?
Helpful for our examination of conscience?
