COVID kills carnival
The latest COVID-19 lockdown in south-east Queensland forced the cancellation of the 2021 Confraternity Carnival being held in Brisbane. The event marked the first time in its 41-year history that a girls competition had been added. As play got under way on day 2, the committee of the Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Rugby League decided to cancel based on government advice of a three-day lockdown coming into force.
