Marymead needs help with Care Cottage Tax Appeal
For over 50 years, Marymead have proudly been Canberra’s main provider of emergency and short-term accommodation for children and families in need.
We recently had to knock down our old care cottages, which were ageing and not up to standard, so we are trying to build new state of the art cottages for both little kids and older kids. Some of these kids live with disabilities and some have families who have big problems at home.
One of our clients, Jackie, wanted to share her story and the importance of these cottages to her family. After leaving an abusive relationship, Jackie was left to raise three children on her own while having to work full time and provide extra care to her son, Johnny, who has Kabuki Syndrome a rare genetic disorder.
These care cottages are vital in allowing Jackie the opportunity to recharge her batteries for a short while, knowing her son is safe.
Marymead has enough money to build one cottage. What we really need right now is enough to fund our second cottage to meet demand – and we are almost there! We just need another $60,000 and then we will reach out goal.
Donations to charities at tax time can prove beneficial for businesses or individuals who may be able to claim the cost of those tax-deductible donations as a tax offset. By donating, you are not only helping those in need, but saving money come 30 June.
In recognition of any tax appeal contribution (of $100 or more), you name and level of commitment will be forever recognised on an acknowledgement wall at our redeveloped site.
