Hundreds gather for Marian Procession
Over 350 parishioners and pilgrims from across the Archdiocese gathered for the Marian Procession in Goulburn on Sunday.
The Mass and procession were held at St Peter and Paul’s Old Cathedral for the first time this year, after a long history at Galong.
Youth Minister Christopher Gilroy said hundreds of people gathered to celebrate the event.
“There was a tremendous representation from our ethnic communities – Filipino, Indian, African and Vietnamese,” he said.
Archbishop Christopher Prowse celebrated Mass at St Peter and Paul’s Old Cathedral for the Marian Procession.
“There were many of all ages, from the young to the wise.”
The Archdiocesan Music Ministry, Cana, led the faithful in musical worship throughout the Mass with multiple vocalists, a pianist and classical stringed instruments.
Hosted by the Goulburn Parish, the day included tours around Sts Peter and Paul’s Old Cathedral, the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Mass, a BBQ, live music, children’s activities and a rosary led by multicultural communities.
“The Goulburn community gave great initiative,” Mr Gilroy said.
“They served and prepared wonderfully to host the Archdiocese.”
Archbishop Christopher Prowse also announced the date for the next Archdiocesan Pastoral Assembly, to be held at St Christopher’s Cathedral and surrounds. The assembly will conclude the Year of the Holy Spirit and “bring together the fruits of the previous 12 months.”
The assembly will be held from Friday 18 October to Sunday 20 October, 2024.
