Many Shades Of Green

ST PATRICK’S Day festivities returned to Cootamundra in a big way last month.

After many years absence in publicly honouring the feast day, the Sacred Heart Parish of Cootamundra enjoyed a significant celebration on March 17.

The Country Club dinner event was eagerly welcomed and supported with over a hundred people present dressed in many shades of green.

Lots of fun was created by a variety of categories of dress and games of ‘Heads or Tails’.

The entertainment began with Peter Hines singing Danny Boy.

It was followed by Geraldine Ryan and her four Singers, Geoff Twomey, Leigh Butt, Oscar Smith and Greg Jamieson, belting out a host of Irish Songs, including Forty Shades of Green and Irish Eyes are Smiling.

There was plenty of dancing to be had. Audience participation was high with plenty of Irish jokes being shared throughout the evening.

In response to Fr Joshy Kurien’s suggestion to raise funds for some local community in need, a raffle was organised, the proceeds of which went to Adam Barnes, who is going to Russia for a cure of his illness.

During the dinner, Fr Kurien presented Adam with a cheque for $2000. He also presented a $500 cheque to Margaret Large, who was there representing Can Assist.
