Leaders and educators enjoy 10th Community Breakfast at Kaleen
For the last 10 years, St Michael’s Primary School in Kaleen has celebrated Catholic Schools Week by hosting a Community Breakfast.
Organised by St Michael’s School Community Council and staff, many businesses, organisations, Catholic Education staff, local Political leaders, Parish members and school community attend.
It is the schools way of showcasing their great little school, celebrating Catholic Education in the Archdiocese of Canberra-Goulburn and thanking all those who have supported both the school and system throughout the year.
This year was attended by over 100 people including Director of Catholic Education Ross Fox, Assistant Director Angus Tulley, Honourable Senator Zed Seselja, Deputy Chief Minister and ACT Education Minister Yvette Berry MLA, Leader of the Opposition Alistair Coe MLA, , Opposition ACT Education Minister Elizabeth Lee MLA, Andrew Wall MLA, James Milligan MLA, Suzanne Orr MLA, Michael Pettersson MLA.
Patrick Ellis, Principal of St Michael’s Primary School said ‘it is a beautiful tradition to host this Catholic Schools Week Community Breakfast. It is a way to shine the light on Catholic Education in the ACT. With the theme in 2019 of Engaging Faith, Minds and Community, this breakfast is the perfect way to celebrate the importance of Catholic Education.
To have our local Political leaders in attendance, demonstrates the value they place on ensuring Catholic Education has a place in the ACT and their commitment to our school community of continued support long into the future’.
