Is Rest possible?

As we come to the end of this year, we may feel overburdened and exhausted, but today’s readings reveal to us that we have a God who understands and desires to give us rest and renew us. The Lord promises that we can come to him, and he will give us rest.  When we turn our eyes to Him, we are reminded of the reality that we have a God who cares for us. In this knowledge, we can place into his hands all that is overburdening us. God desires for us to rest in him.

Today let’s spend a little bit of time just allowing Jesus to care for us and give us his strength. This time before Christmas is often very busy and we can feel that we can’t stop. However, it is just stopping, even if it is only for a few minutes, that we can open ourselves to the renewing presence of Jesus. It is good for us to remember that we do not have to do everything in our strength, but God desires to strengthen us.  
 
Lord, we thank you that you desire to give us rest and are our strength.
