He knows your hunger
Jesus seems to have hosted a massive three-day healing sleepover in today’s Gospel. In the wake of startling displays of divine power it seems so domestic and caring of him to say, “I feel sorry for these people; they have been with me for three days now and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them off hungry, they might collapse on the way.” It sounds like something your mum would say.
Jesus knows our needs, our hungers, our weaknesses and longs to be the answer. Let us come to be with him, to spend time with this amazing gentle God-man, who wields all the power of the universe and also cares about our most basic needs.
Lord we come to you with confidence that you care about us. Help us get to know you and love you.
