Have you been shot at yet?

St Charles Borromeo worked for the renewal of the Church in corrupt times. His most significant opposition came from his within his own family and the Church. He was shot at more than once by Religious violently resistant to reform. We human beings often do not welcome change and conversion!

Where in your life does reform need to happen? Do you, like me, recognise reactions that are hostile to growth? Do you, too, have self-protective behaviours that avoid the tough decisions that bring change? Do you take shots at people? Maybe you shoot yourself in the foot.

Being converted takes years of struggle and many small unseen deaths. We still live in difficult times, but the most dramatic reform areas we will face happens within our hearts.

St Charles Borromeo, we pray for the courage to face our own need so that we can be of use to others.
