Gowrie pilgrims’ bus trip to Eden Pilgrimage
It was an early and freezing start to the day for the St Mary MacKillop-Murrays Bus Pilgrims from Corpus Christi Parish (South Tuggeranong) Gowrie.
Fortunately, the bus was warm, the snow on the side of the road was a beautiful sight and the coffee at Nimmitabel helped charge us up for our pilgrim walk.
We gathered at the Eden Football Ground with pilgrims from Canberra, Crookwell and the Sapphire Coast surrounds, all clad in our beanies, gloves and ski jackets and began the Pilgrim walk along the coastal boardwalk.
Led by Archbishop Christopher, we stopped at various lookouts to pray a decade of the Rosary and hear from people who shared with us their connection with St Mary MacKillop, the town of Eden and the influence the Sisters of St Joseph had on their lives.
When we arrived at the church, we prayed together in front of the statue of St Mary MacKillop and processed into the church for Mass.
Music from the Parish Choir had the congregation singing as one voice, and the rendition of “Oceans” sung by the school choir from St Mary MacKillop College Canberra left us all in captive silence.
A big thank you goes to the wonderful volunteers from Pambula Parish who provided us all with lunch and dessert and to Greg our bus driver, who it turns out works as Business Manager for the Sisters and drives buses as a hobby!
