General Morbidity

Matthew 19 and the rich young man. A good text for young people.

With our depression, lack of hope and general morbidity, we have forgotten the most basic of ways to engage young people in faith and parish life.

They need to be asked to give of themselves. Why sell them short?

Jesus asks him to ‘go,’ ‘sell everything,’ ‘give the money to the poor, and ‘come, follow me.’

The young man didn’t respond. He went away sad.

And that ‘sadness’ would have lingered.

I bet you he eventually responded and came back to tell the story.
