Cooperation with God
In today’s Gospel, Jesus walks on water and invites Peter to join him. When Jesus says ‘Come,’ Peter “got out of the boat and started walking towards Jesus across the water.’
Sometimes, we first need to move to see God’s grace and power.
Do you think you have heard God say ‘Come!’ in some area of your life? Perhaps it is time to step out in faith and allow God to take you forward. A wise person once said to me that it is easier to steer a ship that is moving, even slightly, than a ship that is still.
It is a beautiful acknowledgement of our freedom and dignity that God works with our cooperation. If you have felt inspired by the Holy Spirit to take a step, try ‘getting out of the boat’ and see what God does!
