Canberran joins the Australian Young Catholic Women’s Fellowship
A fellowship focused on the formation, accompaniment, voice, and contribution of women in the Catholic Church in Australia is an amazing opportunity to connect with other young female leaders and understand God’s call, according to Marci Vos.
The 29-year-old Canberran is one of eight women from around Australia chosen to take part in the Australian Young Catholic Women’s Fellowship – a long-term and deep formative experience designed to enable women to be intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, and personally formed for effective leadership roles in their communities.
“I have been aware of the Catholic Young Women’s Fellowship since 2014, and after a period of three years working in ministry full-time, I thought that it would be a great opportunity to further explore my leadership capacity and how God was developing my individual call to mission,” Marci said.
“For me, the fellowship involves participating in formation sessions with seven other amazing young female leaders from across Australia, studying at ACU part-time and further discernment of gifts/charisms.”
The fellowship – offered by the Australian Bishops Commission for Evangelisation, Laity and Ministry (BCELM) – runs over a two-year period, supporting participants’ academic and faith formation.
For the 2024/25 Fellowship, the Australian Catholic University’s (ACU) Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies (Women’s Leadership in Mission) was chosen as the academic course for financial sponsorship.
Marci said she was looking forward to connecting with other young women dedicated to their faith and ministry.
“I hope that forming a community to enhance our leadership skills will not only develop these professionally and personally, but also enrich my faith journey,” she said.
“I hope that through the fellowship, I am able to listen deeply to the Spirit, integrating my head, heart, and hands—intellectual analysis, emotional engagement, and practical action—in response to God’s call.”
Marci said as a dedicated Catholic, faith has played a pivotal role in her life.
“I have led in ministry contexts from parish to Archdiocese levels. I work with Fierce Athlete Inc (based in the USA) and I regularly sing in the Cathedral Choir. I also teach Religious Education at St Mary MacKillop College Canberra and have been active in many sporting communities in Canberra, including rowing and gridiron,” she said.
“My faith has not always been as integral to who I am now, but it has developed into a strong relationship with God during my twenties and I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to serve in ministry as I continue to listen to the Holy Spirit’s promptings.”
Dear Marci,
Well done and I wish you all the best in your study in the coming two years.
Good to see you waving the flag for women in our archdiocese.
Blessings
