Sister Ivančica Fulir, a Croatian missionary in Benin, showcases the power of storytelling in spreading awareness about Catholic missionary work. Fulir, who dreamed of missionary life since childhood, overcame health challenges and family reservations, eventually dedicating her life to serving needy communities. Currently based in Porto Novo, she organizes food programs for 3,800 schoolchildren, aids in building medical clinics, and supports an orphanage for girls.

Understanding that many missionary efforts go unnoticed, Sr. Ivančica actively shares her experiences through social media and publications, inspiring others to contribute to humanitarian causes. Her posts highlight life’s cultural and logistical challenges in Africa, emphasizing the importance of context to avoid misunderstandings. Fulir’s commitment to communication underscores that storytelling fosters support and brings mission work closer to people’s hearts.

She believes that sharing these stories motivates others to join in the mission, driving home the African proverb, “If you want to go far, go together.” Despite challenges, Sr. Ivančica remains steadfast, firmly believing that even if one heart is touched, it’s a divine gift.
