Dr Patrick McArdle appointed new Archdiocesan Chancellor.
Dr Patrick McArdle has been appointed Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn.
In announcing the appointment today, Archbishop Christopher Prowse said Dr McArdle would soon retire from his leadership roles at Australian Catholic University where he had worked for more than 25 years, including as dean of the Canberra campus.
Dr McArdle recently completed post-graduate studies in Canon Law.
“He will be of immense assistance to us all as he serves in his new role as our Chancellor,” the Archbishop said.
Dr McArdle’s appointment follows the retirement of Mr Victor Dunn after almost five years in the position.

The Archbishop said Mr Dunn had served the archdiocese with distinction.
“He has placed his deep Catholic faith into practical action. We are deeply grateful,” he said.
As Chancellor, Dr McArdle will work closely with the Archbishop, the Vicar General, and the archdiocese’s financial administrator.
His other roles will include employment, assisting in the management of the Office for Evangelisation, and notarial and archival functions.
Dr McArdle will take up the appointment at the end of this month.
