Archdiocese celebrates family life
We have just concluded the Anniversary Year of Laudato Si’ and find ourselves in the middle of the Year of St Joseph. But that didn’t deter the Holy Father from announcing another special year commemorating the 5 year anniversary of the apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia on the beauty and joy of love in the family. This “Year Amoris Laetitia Family” extends from now until the World Meeting of Families with Pope Francis in Rome in June 2022.
The Vatican Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life has set up a special website of pastoral resources including a series of 10 videos of Pope Francis speaking on various aspects of Amoris Laetitia. Study guides accompany each video. Other pastoral initiatives will include the celebration of the First World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly on Sunday 25 July.
Our own Archdiocese has gathered pastoral resources relevant to marriage and family life into one micro-website at www.marriagefamily.org.au and we are rolling out a series online formation opportunities. Our main push is to promote “professional development” for married life in the form of The Marriage Course which is appropriate for couples of every age and stage, living in any locality within the Archdiocese.
“The Marriage Course” is delivered live, via zoom, so you can participate from the comfort of your own lounge room while still feeling a sense of connection with other married couples from around the Archdiocese.
For more information about all things marriage, family & parenting in our Archdiocese see www.marriagefamily.org.au
The year Amoris Laetitia Family will be launched this Sunday at St Christopher’s Cathedral with Marriage & Family Sunday Mass followed by a Marriage & Family Expo and lunch in the Haydon Hall with Archbishop Christopher. Register here to attend or to be sent information about upcoming events.
