The Smell!

The possessed man, living among the “tombs,” is symbolic of modern life (Mark 5).

Many people are troubled in body, soul and spirit. Like the possessed man, they think faith is weird. Even more, they think religion enslaves.

But Jesus Christ expels the demons. They enter the 2,000 pigs, who descend the mountain slope into the sea.

It is a stupendous miracle.

Imagine the noise.

Better still, imagine the smell!

2,000 pig carcasses rotting in the sea for months. The stench must have been horrifically pungent.

That’s it.

Use your senses.

The Gospel scenes will come alive.
