Former Victorian Senator Jacinta Collins has been appointed Executive Director of the National Catholic Education Commission (NCEC).

Ross Fox, member of the NCEC and Director of Catholic Education in the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn, welcomes the appointment.

“I look forward to working closely with Jacinta,” he said.

“I have known and worked closely with Jacinta over almost a decade. She is a welcome asset for the NCEC. Jacinta has been a strong advocate for fair funding and school education as a Senator. She brings a wealth of experience and an excellent understanding of the challenges faced by Catholic education today to her new role as leader of the NCEC.”

With over 20 years in the Senate, Jacinta’s extensive leadership experience includes serving on the frontbench in the school education and early childhood portfolios. She has been a strong advocate for social justice and quality education across all sectors. As parent to three children Jacinta has a deep interest in early learning and quality education for all children.

Jacinta is passionate about Australia’s diverse school system of government, Catholic and Independent schools and strongly believes in the right of parents to choose the type of school most suited for their child.

The NCEC’s new Executive Director will continue to advocate on behalf of Australian Catholic school children.

“In the Parliament, I was a strong advocate for fair funding for all schools and I will continue to be a strong voice for the needs of Catholic schools, teachers and students.” she said.

Jacinta will commence in her new role on 18 February 2019.
